what is this
In any city, in any country, go to any mental institution of halfway house you can get yourself to. When you reach the front desk, ask to visit someone who calls himself "The Holder of the Sock." The worker may balk at you and feign ignorance, but if you ask again they will have no choice but escort you.
Together you will walk through what might seem to be a random series of doors and hallways. Your legs may tire but you must keep up, or else you will find yourself forever lost in that place without any recollection as to how or why you were there to begin with. The worker will pause at the fiftieth door and gesture for you to go on. Then, wordlessly, they will turn and vanish from the hall.
Inside you will find a small, perfectly cubic room. The walls are a pleasant (if not dull) hue of beige, the floors covered in somber brown-stippled-white carpeting, the air devoid of the clinical odor of hospital space. The room is furnished with various pickings from IKEA and every surface seems covered in knick-knacks of all sorts. Master Chief's helmet peers at you from atop a subwoofer, while a pensive looking daikon radish holds a large cup of tea. A pile of books and DVDs litter one corner, while another is occupied by a heap of shoes and purses.
Against the far wall is a desk with a desktop computer system sitting on top. Every peripheral, from the keyboard to the mouse to the LCD monitor, wears the same black-and-silver motif. From the speakers you can hear carebear music (likely something from John Mayer or Imogen Heap) crooning away at no-one.
If you give the mouse a wiggle, the screen will hum back from stand-by. On the screen you will see several instances of Notepad opened. Each one holds lines of code which, together, could possibly form a web-site of some sort.
That site is object 539 of 538. It will never be completed. Ever.
uh no, seriously
oh okay
Fuzzysock is pretty much just a personal website. The name popped up in like late 2000 or so, back when I was one of those irritating internet personas who just had to be totally cute. I abused ^_^ and the word "kawaii" so you can kind of imagine how it was. Anyway, it started as a little thing on Geocities, 'cause everything started on Geocities, and has gone through redesign after redesign. So more than anything, Fuzzysock is just a thing for me to play with and satisfy whatever need I have for messing around with HTML and CSS every now and then.
If I ever actually think to maintain it, it might hold things like all the stories I've written or something. Maybe someday!
so who are you
My name is Debbie and I am on the internet.
